The Lantern Parade and Luminary Sculpture Garden was a celebration of light in the middle of winter and culmination of a lantern making workshop led by Rebecca DeWitt and Phoebe Hiltermann. Drawing on traditions of lantern processions and festivals from around the world as practices of bringing in the light and coming together around the hearth, the Lantern Parade briefly turned the Florence neighborhood by a small swath of the Mill River into a mythical landscape of illuminated wonders.

The parade ended at a luminary sculpture garden by the river, and parade goers were invited warm up indoors with tea, hot chocolate and hands on shadow puppet play in a makeshift theater at Sulis Studio.
